Drollettes Visit

Our friends Tara and Dallen Drollette, who we know through our church home group, are about to leave, with their 3-month-old son Logan, to serve as missionaries in Ecuador for the summer. When they return to the states, they will be living in Austin, so although we plan on remaining close friends, it was a priority for us to see them before they left - and we were thankful Ellie arrived on time!

The Weigh-In

Ellie's First Day

Welcome to the McWhorter Family Blog

Hello, everybody! Welcome to the first post of the McWhorter family blog. As you know, Ellie Grace McWhorter, our first child, was born at 10:07 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012. This blog exists primarily for the benefit of grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and anyone else who cares about our family but doesn't live close enough to personally witness the day-to-day wonders of watching Ellie grow. Kelly and I will be posting photos, videos and maybe some writing. At this point, Ellie is about to finish her first week of life. It has been an amazing week full of lots of love from family and friends (especially Mimi, who has been staying with us, making us amazing food and helping us figure out parenthood moment-by-moment), late-night feedings and awesome time just napping with her. I (Jeff) have taken the week off of work, which has been great. After brilliantly handling 10 hours of labor, Kelly has since been persevering through the early challenges of breastfeeding, usually with a smile on her face. We have been very thankful for those who have prayed for us in general and for Kelly's nursing specifically. When Ellie was born, she was 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 20 7/8 inches long. We have actually been to the doctor twice this week and did a weigh-in (for Ellie's upcoming featherweight bout) on Friday. She weighed in at 6 lbs. 15 oz., exactly on target, the doctor said. Mimi leaves tomorrow and Jeff goes back to work, so we are in for even more challenges and changes this week. Prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your love and support, J&K
